Our demonstration projects are always looking for volunteers to assist on site during work days. Are you interested? If so, contact us and we will put you on the list of volunteers. This does not obligate you to work; it does allow us to contact you each time we have a work day to see if you are available.

Site Suggestions

Do you know of a project that needs MELA‘s help to become more sustainable? We are always looking for worthy landscaping projects where we can demonstrate the value of sustainable landscaping! Our criteria: areas of the city with little green space, projects that serve children, projects that allow families and individuals to raise edible crops and projects with strong community support for ongoing maintenance.

Our Active Demonstration Site

To practice what we preach and give back to the community, MELA provides sustainability consulting, design and selective installation support to one community garden each year selected for us by our partner, Neighbor Space.

Our current project is Unity Park.

In 2012, our second project was in Little Village.

Our first project, during 2010 and 2011, was at O’Keeffe School Garden.
